Welcome to Week 8
It has been lovely to return after the mid-term break and settle back into our routines.
This Week
Parent–Teacher Meetings
We warmly invite you to join us for Parent–Teacher Meetings any time between 3:15 p.m. and 4:45 p.m. on your child’s scheduled day. There is no obligation to attend, but we look forward to seeing you if you are able to join us.
Check-in Schedule:
Monday, 23rd February: The Agent Owls, The Hummingbirds
Tuesday, 24th February: The Sabertooth Group, The Silver Sharks
Wednesday, 25th February: The Penguins, The Ninjas, The Crystal Tigers
Please note that due to Parent–Teacher Meetings, there will be no Coffee Morning on Wednesday this week. It will return as normal the following Wednesday.
Café Thursday -
The café will this week be run by Alex, Alesso, and Prin, who will be selling banana smoothies and other drinks.
Alhena and Grace will also be organising a small flea market at the café. Parents are very welcome to join us.
Trips This Week
Lower Primary will go swimming at Hampton Swimming and Fitness.
Upper Primary will visit Cha-Am Park. Children may bring their bikes or other wheeled devices.
Highlights from the Week
Our whole-school trip to Suan Son Beach was full of adventure. Students travelling by train had a memorable experience despite a delay, and Upper Primary and Middle School enjoyed the beach visit after voting for it when Hampton was unavailable.
Valentine’s Day, organised by Alhena and Grace, was a great success. Students picked names from a hat and secretly wrote thoughtful Valentine’s cards throughout the week.
We also held writing and poetry competitions, with winners to be announced this week.
Upper Primary and Middle School students have been working hard on their Areas of Responsibility and are beginning to make strong progress across a range of projects designed to improve our school. This includes initiatives focused on making the roads around the school safer, along with other practical improvements that support our wider community.
Circle Time Highlights
Students completed their final club rotations and voted for their clubs for the remainder of the term.
Kacie and Laura will run Dance Club and performed a routine in circle time to showcase what students can expect.
Paploy, Grace, and Milin will run Movie Making Club.
Eden proudly presented his model Formula 1 car, which he will now attempt to print using the 3D printer.
In our weekly contest, Nari and Jon won boxes, while Jon and Chafia each received black bags. Max, Fah, and Bella were awarded American coins. Congratulations to all of our winners.
Calvin organized his own football tournament in the cage during Mr Francis’s absence. A wonderful initiative and leadership.
We also harvested fresh watermelon from our school farm.
Relationship Education
Agent Owls - Students focused on polite communication, practising how to revise sentences and commands to make them more respectful and considerate. They also played games using gestures and body language, learning that communication includes more than just words.
Hummingbirds and Sabertooth Group - Students explored the idea of love; discussing different types of love, including friendship, family love, and love for community. They reflected on how love is shown through kindness, care, respect, and thoughtful actions toward others.
Silver Sharks and Penguin Boys - Students concluded their discussions on puberty, addressing final questions and reinforcing key concepts. They then began exploring citizenship and social responsibility, considering the roles they play within their communities.
Silver Sharks and Penguin Girls - Students discussed citizenship through the ideas of equality, equity, fairness, respect, and kindness. They explored how fairness does not always mean treating everyone the same, but ensuring everyone feels included and valued.
Ninjas and Crystal Tigers - Students examined the concept of the social contract, discussing why societies create rules, why individuals give up certain freedoms, and what they receive in return. They connected these ideas to daily life at school and reflected on how embracing shared responsibility strengthens community.
Thank you, as always, for your continued support.
Warm regards,
Mr. Vincent and The Halio Team.
