Welcome to our final Penguin Post of the term!

This Week

This week is the last week of our term, and we have our annual Flea Market and end-of-term trip to look forward to.

This Wednesday will be our annual Flea Market. The students have been working extremely hard to create homemade items to sell. Over the last couple of weeks, they have been busy making bracelets, necklaces, and fridge magnets using air-dried clay. On the day of the Flea Market, they will also be making fresh lemonade.

On Thursday, we will be cleaning the school to help wrap up the term, followed by our end-of-term trip on Friday. The kindergarteners will be going to HarborLand at Blueport to have fun and celebrate all of their hard work throughout the term. Please make sure to drop your child off at Blueport at 10:15 a.m. The kindergarteners will eat lunch at around 11:30 a.m., and after lunch the students may continue playing until 2:15 p.m.

School reports will be ready at the start of next term. The term break begins after our Friday trip, and school starts again on 7th September. We hope you all have a wonderful holiday and look forward to seeing you again next term.

Highlights from Last Week

Last week, the kindergarteners enjoyed another fun-filled week of learning, playing, and creating together.

On Wednesday, the kindergarteners enjoyed P.E. by playing basketball and a game called "Carrot and the Farmer." They all said they really enjoyed the game, which helped them develop teamwork and resilience while having lots of fun.

On Thursday, some of the kindergarteners went into the tent to read books and play with dolls. Others took part in imaginative play by chopping pretend food, making omelettes, and cooking different dishes. It was wonderful to see the children using their creativity and playing so well together.

Also on Thursday, the kindergarteners made colourful bracelets for their club. If you would like one of their bracelets, you can buy one at this week's Flea Market on 29th July. They used colourful beads and alphabet letters to spell their names. The bracelets turned out amazingly well, and it was lovely to see how much effort they put into making them.

This has been our final Penguin Post of the term. Thank you for reading our posts each week. Writing them has given us more confidence, and we hope you have enjoyed reading about all of the wonderful things we have been learning and doing in kindergarten.

Friday's Trip

For the students' penultimate trip, they explored a European-style farm called Pansook Food and Farm.

During their visit, they roamed around the farm, feeding animals such as ponies, rabbits, sheep, and fish.

After feeding the animals, they explored the architecture, as there were many interesting buildings, including a humongous old boot that looked like it had come straight out of a fairy tale. There was also a massive bright yellow flower structure and an English phone booth, which they used to make pretend phone calls. To wrap up the trip, they climbed aboard an old horse-drawn carriage.

Classes From Last Week

Throughout last week, the kindergarten students continued to participate in new activities during their classes, including Hands and Hearts, Project Play, Tales and Treasures, and Music.

In Tales and Treasures with Mrs Sara, the kindergarteners worked on a big collaborative project. Each student was assigned a letter to paint and decorate. Once completed, they combined all of the letters together to help improve their spelling skills.

In Music with Mr Tommy, the kindergarteners were in perfect harmony while engaging in interactive songs. It was a marvellous musical masterclass for the students.

In Project Play with Ms Celden, the kindergarteners learned about the famous artist Louise Bourgeois. They explored how art can be a way to express people's emotions. They also looked at Louise Bourgeois' artwork, especially her famous spider sculpture, and learned that art does not always have to be beautiful, sometimes even scary things can be interesting and inspiring. Inspired by Louise Bourgeois, the students sculpted their own little spiders.

In Hands and Hearts with Mr Chad, the kindergarteners first revised colours while also learning about sentence structure. Next, they played a colour description game. First, they had to find an object in the room, then give it to one of their classmates, who described the object using colours. Lastly, they used different colours to complete rainbow pictures while practising how to say "please" and "thank you."

The teachers are so proud of all the work the kindergarteners have done this term, and they look forward to teaching them again next term.
