Week 13: Showcasing and Wrapping Up the Term

Welcome to Week 13

This is our final week of the term. It has been a fantastic term, and we are incredibly proud of everything our students have achieved. We hope this final week will be a celebration of their hard work, growth, and many accomplishments.

This Week

• Annual Flea Market - Our annual Flea Market will take place this Wednesday. The event is open to all Halio families and their friends.

  
  

  For parents who are selling items, stalls can be set up from 1:00 p.m. The Flea Market will officially open for buying and selling at 2:00 p.m.

  
  

  If you are planning to bring items to sell and have not yet contacted us, please get in touch with Mr. Vincent so we can reserve your space and arrange tables.

• This week we will also be holding a Goodbye Circle as we celebrate our graduating students and wish them all the very best on the next stage of their journey.

End-of-Term Trips

Lower Primary:

Our Lower Primary students will enjoy a day of adventure and play, beginning with a visit to the Mangrove Forest where they will explore one of Hua Hin's unique natural environments. After spending the morning in nature, the group will stop for lunch before continuing to HarborLand for an afternoon of fun. The cost of the trip includes HarborLand socks, so there is no need for students to bring their own.

Upper Primary & Middle School:

Our Upper Primary and Middle School students will travel to Amazing Siam Park in Bangkok for an exciting day together. Students will have the opportunity to enjoy a wide range of water attractions, thrilling rides, and group activities while celebrating the end of another successful term.

Further information about both trips, including travel arrangements and what students should bring, will be sent directly to families later this week.

Highlights from Last Week

• Lower Primary had a fantastic trip to Sip Kao Rai (Queen's Park). Many students brought along their bikes, scooters, skateboards, and other wheeled devices to continue developing their confidence and skills. Others enjoyed exploring the beach, where they had a wonderful time playing and enjoying the seaside.

• The Upper Primary and Middle School students who chose the movie afternoon voted to watch The Twits, based on the classic book by Roald Dahl. Meanwhile, the rest of the group took part in an exciting Nerf battle, playing games such as Capture the Flag and enjoying a fun afternoon together.

• Preparations for next week's Halio Flea Market continued across the school. The Events Team worked hard creating decorations, while the Crispy Crabs and Penguins produced a large banner for the event. Little Makers Club also contributed by creating around twenty colourful jellyfish and a rainbow display.

• A special well done to Alex and Tar Ping for creating some excellent social media posts showcasing the wonderful student projects taking place around the school.

• Our Music and Band groups have found a new home in the North Room, where they have been rehearsing for the upcoming showcase. We look forward to families seeing them perform at the end of term.

• The Halio Café opened once again, with Laura and Toa serving Thai tea and a selection of traditional Thai sweet treats, making another healthy profit.

• During the Farm Harvest Event, Maxi and Yuzu supported the Road Safety team by helping visitors move safely around the site, while the Silver Sharks did an excellent job leading guided tours of the school farm.

  
  

• The Street Art group completed their mural at the back of the school, and paint new furniture, which has added another splash of colour to the campus.

Circle Time Highlights

• Older students, including Pohn, were recognised for their support with Buddy Reading, helping younger students develop their confidence and enjoyment of reading.

  
  

• The Silver Sharks, who completed the parachute jump, received certificates and special badges to recognise their achievement and courage.

• The World Cup Club once again entertained the school by reenacting famous World Cup moments, this time featuring matches involving England, France, Spain, and Argentina.

• The Agent Owls and Hummingbirds proudly shared their completed Squiggle artwork with the school.

• The Hummingbirds also announced that they will soon be running a masterclass on how to properly clean and care for paintbrushes.

• Leia and Pya gave an excellent presentation about the brain, explaining the two hemispheres, the frontal lobe, and how different parts of the brain work together.

• Davide and Harris shared stories from the recent Science Egg Drop Challenge, with congratulations going to Alisa and Sarah, whose team was the only one whose egg survived the drop.

• Finally, congratulations to Davide, who won this week's competition to win a journal.

Relationship Class

Polar Bears

In Relationship Class, the Polar Bears learned about living a healthy lifestyle. They explored healthy eating by learning to "eat the rainbow", discovered how foods change with the seasons, and discussed food allergies. Students also learned the importance of keeping their bodies active through games such as Freeze Dance and practised meditation to support their mental well-being.

Agent Owls

In Relationship Class, the Agent Owls wrapped up our lessons on bullying this week. We explored what bullying looks like and discussed effective ways to respond. The class reviewed the key steps to take, along with all the helpful language we have been practising. We also talked about positive and negative behaviour in different areas of the school and the importance of choosing the right time and place for both work and play.

Hummingbirds

The Hummingbirds had an extended Relationship Class on Wednesday to explore social interaction. We began by discussing the qualities that make a Halio Child before focusing on kindness and how something that seems simple is often much more difficult and complex to put into practice. Through drama activities, we introduced the idea of social power, explored situations where it can be misused, and worked together to find positive solutions.

Sabertooth Group In Relationship Class, the Sabertooth Group explored how social media algorithms shape our experiences. Students discussed what a healthy information diet looks like and designed their own "algorithms" to promote variety, balance, and moderation, considering how technology can broaden rather than narrow our understanding of the world.

The Silver Sharks and Penguins

The Silver Sharks and Penguins were challenged to design an original, ethical psychological study that could benefit the school community. They considered the psychological concepts they have explored this term and discussed how they could investigate them in a way that is ethical, respectful, and does not cause harm to others.

Crispy Crabs

In Relationship Class, the Crispy Crabs reflected on how they are feeling as the end of term approaches. With some students preparing to move on, we discussed their plans for the future and the mixture of excitement, uncertainty, and sadness that often comes with change. The conversation focused on recognising these emotions and supporting one another through transitions.
