It has been another unique and exciting week of learning, creativity, and adventure in Kindergarten. From muddy outdoor explorations and imaginative free play to P.E., creative classes, and turning clay into works of art, the children have been busy learning through a wide variety of experiences. We hope you enjoy reading this week's edition of the Penguin Post.

This Week

For this week's Wednesday activity, the kindergarteners will be preparing beads and string to make their own bracelets and necklaces.

For this Friday's trip, the kindergarteners will be visiting Pansook Food and Farm, which is approximately 32 minutes from Hua Hin. They will have the opportunity to explore the farm, enjoy the outdoor environment, and learn more about nature through hands-on experiences.

Highlights from Last Week

This week the kindergarteners enjoyed reading, free play, creative activities, and another exciting Friday trip.

Many of the kindergarteners spent time reading books during free play. They enjoyed looking at the pictures, playing with the story puppets, and asking teachers to read to them. Some children even read stories to their classmates. One of our youngest students, Redbox, especially enjoyed using the puppets to act out the stories, making everyone laugh and enjoy the experience together.

Afterwards, the kindergarteners created waterways in the sandpit. They had great fun experimenting with how the water flowed through the sand. During this time, we were also pleased to welcome a new student, Lillie, who came to visit Halio and may soon be joining the Kindergarten class.

The kindergarteners also challenged themselves by jumping over foam boxes. They successfully jumped over the green, red, and blue boxes, while deciding not to attempt the black one as it was nearly one and a half metres high. Everyone enjoyed encouraging one another, and the activity helped develop teamwork, confidence, and good sportsmanship.

There was also a table tennis competition and plenty of creative Lego building on Friday, giving students even more opportunities to play and learn together.

Last Thursday, the kindergarteners created clay characters with magnets on the back so they could be displayed on the fridge at home. They used their creative imaginations to design and build something completely their own. Everyone had an amazing time exploring their creativity while learning about art.

On Friday, the kindergarteners hopped on a songthaew and took a muddy trip to visit and explore the magnificent mangroves.

During the trip, Pii Jaa talked about the animals that live there. The students were very fascinated by the blue crabs because they were the smallest animals but also the coolest. They also liked the mudskippers because they can live on both land and in water.

Just before the students left the mangroves, they fed the monitor lizards. They bought bait and tossed it to them. Some students wanted to stay at the mangroves longer; however, they had to come back to school.

Classes from Last Week

Last week, the kindergarteners continued their classes, including Hands and Hearts, Project Play, Tales and Treasures, and Music.

In Tales and Treasures with Mrs. Sara, the children began the lesson with a story about teddy bears. Afterwards, using the story as inspiration, they created beautiful watercolour paintings, strengthening their creativity. The kindergarteners also enjoyed tasting different herbs and spices, including cumin and cinnamon.

In Music with Mr Tommy, the kindergarteners participated in a variety of singing activities. The students were enthusiastic throughout the lesson and continued to contribute with great energy and confidence.

In Project Play with Ms Celden, the children read the story Where the Wild Things Are by Maurice Sendak, which led to a discussion about feelings and actions. Afterwards, Ms Celden explored different emotions and actions with the children, helping them recognise and express their feelings. The students also used different types of weather to help describe their emotions.

In Hands and Hearts with Mr Chad, the kindergarteners focused on numbers and colours. They began by counting the number of students in the class before taking part in an activity where Mr Chad shuffled number cards and the children worked together to place them back in the correct order. The final activity focused on colours, with students identifying different colours and using them as adjectives to describe nouns. They finished the lesson by playing games based on what they had learned.

The students had great fun engaging in these activities, exploring new ideas, and continuing to develop their skills across a wide range of subjects.
