Week 10: Student Projects, Performances and Progress

Updated: 1 hour ago

Welcome to Week 10

Last week was an eventful one, with many classes and projects beginning to reach their climax as we approach the end of the term. It has been wonderful to see the students’ hard work and creativity coming together.

This Week

The Ministry of Education has changed the date of their visit and will now be visiting today. We are extremely confident that our Grade 6 students are ready and fully prepared.

Alhena and Grace will be opening the café on Thursday 12th March. Parents are very welcome to come and join us.

Please note that the Wednesday Coffee Morning with me will not take place this week. If you would like to discuss anything, please feel free to contact me directly. Coffee Mornings will resume as normal next Wednesday.

Friday Trips

Lower Primary will go swimming at Hampton Swimming and Fitness.

The Silver Sharks will visit an organic farm organised with the support of Truly Organic. There they will participate in a half-day workshop on sustainable farming practices in the morning before returning to school for the afternoon.

The Penguins will remain at school to complete a variety of projects for the end-of-term showcase.

Middle School students will vote on whether they would prefer to stay in school to continue their work or visit Hua Hin Go Karting.

Highlights from the Week

  • We had a beautiful gathering at Queen’s Park on Tuesday evening to watch the lunar eclipse. It was lovely to see so many families and students meeting together after school. Thank you to everyone who came along.

  • A family kindly donated a new globe to the school, along with aprons for art class. We are very grateful for their contribution.

  • The Art Club went on a small trip on Wednesday to observe birds and paint them. It was a calm and inspiring experience for the students.

  • The Halio band performed at the café on Wednesday and were fantastic. The shop also began selling art supplies, and the café made a profit, making it another excellent student-led event. The Road Safety group also worked very professionally.

  • Max and Miya harvested some cucumbers from the school farm.

  • Alisa has been developing a new tax system for Upper Primary, which she will begin rolling out this week.

Circle Time Highlights

  • Students proudly presented designs and their 3D-printed Formula 1 cars during Circle Time this week.

  • The Agent Owls also presented their Mythical Art drawings, and the Dance Club gave a performance.

  • In the weekly contest, Bella and Winston won bookmarks, Eden won a model, and Yuzu won a coin.

Relationship Education

Agent Owls

This week the Agent Owls explored how the human body works. They discussed everyday experiences such as why we feel hungry, why we sneeze, why we feel sleepy, why our hair and nails grow, and why we cry. This helped them develop a clearer understanding of how their bodies function.

Hummingbirds

The Hummingbirds focused on emotional regulation and resilience. They learned practical “resilience superpowers,” including pausing before reacting, calming the body, and making thoughtful choices.

Sabertooth Group and Silver Sharks

Students began exploring the topic of honesty. They played Two Truths and a Lie and discussed what a lie is and why people sometimes choose not to tell the truth. This discussion will continue next week as students explore how honesty connects to trust and relationships.

Penguins

The Penguins continued learning about civic responsibility and what it means to be a good citizen. They discussed different social situations and reflected on appropriate behaviour, as well as the rights individuals have and the responsibilities that come with them.

Ninjas and Crystal Tigers

Students attempted to reflect on positive and negative interactions from the past week. Many were hesitant to share, so the discussion shifted toward understanding why this can happen and exploring ways to help everyone feel more comfortable speaking openly.

Thank you, as always, for your continued support.

Warm regards,

Mr. Vincent and The Halio Team
