Week 9: The Penguin Post – Kindergarten Weekly

🌈 KINDERGARTEN NEWS 🌈

It has been another busy and exciting time in Kindergarten, with the children enjoying a wide range of learning experiences both in and out of the classroom. From creative projects and music to outdoor adventures and swimming, there has been plenty to keep everyone engaged. We also have another exciting week ahead, with a special trip, visiting musicians and our Mini Flea Market.

This Week

  • Student-Led Café & Mini Flea Market: The café will be open on Wednesday from 3:30 p.m. This week's event will be a student-led mini flea market, where students will be selling homemade bracelets, cupcakes, banana crisps, 3D-printed creations and other handmade items. We would love to see as many parents as possible come along to support our young entrepreneurs.

  • Visiting Musicians: This week we are delighted to welcome Ethan and Sophie, two young budding violinists who are volunteering at Halio to gain work experience. They will be supporting Mr Tommy in Music lessons throughout the week.

  • On Friday, the Kindergarten will be visiting Parrotdise Farm. The children will have the opportunity to explore the farm, meet and interact with a variety of animals, and enjoy a fun day of outdoor learning and discovery.

  • On Wednesday, the children will be making their own slime for their club. Ms Sara will also be helping the children create a special item that we hope to sell at our Flea Market, giving them a little opportunity to take part in our young entrepreneur project.

Highlights from Last Week

By Alisa, Davide and Daniel

It has been another busy and exciting week in Kindergarten, with plenty of opportunities for learning, creativity and adventure.

Throughout the week all children took part in outdoor play, which was full of adventure as the children explored the area behind the main building. They climbed the treehouse and took turns on the zip line, helping to build confidence, balance and coordination.

Davide also organised a fun mini catwalk, where the children enjoyed dressing up and confidently showing off their outfits. A special mention goes to Paul, who showed great confidence by putting on a dress and proudly taking part in the activity.

On Friday, the children enjoyed working together on two enormous floor puzzles. One featured a colourful farm scene, while the other focused on the alphabet, encouraging teamwork, problem-solving and letter recognition. They also celebrated Yeatso's birthday, enjoying balloons and a fun afternoon playing together.

The children also created their own mini paper books, decorating each page with drawings inspired by letters of the alphabet and different shapes. This creative activity encouraged both artistic expression and early literacy skills while reinforcing their understanding of shapes and the alphabet.

Swimming lessons continued with a coach from Hua Hin Swim School at the Hampton pool in Hin Lek Fai. The children practised new swimming strokes, took part in exciting kicking races, and enjoyed imaginative games using pool noodles, including pretending they were magical mirrors underwater and making funny motorboat noises. As always, the session combined skill development with plenty of laughter and fun.

Classes from Last Week

By Amanda and Toa

Last week, the kindergartners continued their classes, including Tales and Treasures, Hands and Hearts, Project Play and Music.

In Music with Mr Tommy, the students continued to express themselves through songs. The children eagerly contributed and were engaged throughout the class.

In Tales and Treasures with Mrs Sara, the kindergartners warmed up with stories. Afterwards, the students created handprint cut-outs and stuck them onto paper. They then decorated the background with paint and colourful fingerprints. Later in the week, the kindergartners traced around their hands before cutting them out and decorating them with cat faces.

In Project Play with Ms Celden, they read The Tiger Who Came to Tea by Judith Kerr. The kindergartners added their own ideas to the story and created their own tigers.

After that, Ms Celden introduced different verbs, and the kindergartners acted them out. Many of them gave wonderful performances.

In Hands and Hearts with Mr Chad, they first read the book The Three Little Pigs. The kindergartners joined in with the story and enthusiastically repeated the famous words, "Then I'll huff and I'll puff, and I'll blow your house in!"

The kindergartners continued to be enthusiastic throughout the week, and we look forward to teaching them again this week.

Closing

As always, it has been wonderful to see the children's enthusiasm, creativity and growing confidence throughout the week. Thank you to all our families for your continued support, and we look forward to another week of learning, exploration and fun together.
