Welcome to Week 6
Last week has been a strong example of what makes Halio unique. Across the school, students have been stepping into real roles of responsibility, organising events, supporting younger students, and contributing meaningfully to daily school life. It has been particularly noticeable how students are not just participating, but actively shaping their environment, making thoughtful decisions, and taking pride in their contributions.
This Week
Coffee Morning: Coffee Morning with me will take place on Thursday mornings from 8:15 to 9:00 a.m.
Sports Day Shirts: Our Sports Day shirts will arrive on Wednesday. The shirts have been designed with input from the students and reflect their ideas and team identity. The cost is 350 THB per shirt, and they can continue to be worn after Sports Day as part of the regular school uniform.
Clubs: Rugby club will begin on Monday after school from 3:45 to 5:00 p.m. All students are welcome to join. Football club will now run on Wednesdays from 4:00 to 5:00 p.m.
Café and Halio Band Event on Wednesday 10th: This Wednesday, the café will be run by Pohn, Jom and Patee. The Halio Band, featuring Alhena, Alisa, Matthew, and Sarah, will perform three songs at approximately 3:35P.M.. We would love to see you there.
Friday Trips
Lower Primary: Lower Primary will have a pyjama and movie afternoon at school. For the movie, we have curated a selection of age-appropriate films with important messages, and students will vote on their choice during Friday morning’s circle time.
Upper Primary and Middle School: Students will attend swimming lessons at Hampton Swimming & Fitness. Please ensure your child brings swimwear, a towel, sun protection, a change of clothes, and a water bottle. Middle School students will also have the option to remain at school for supervised study time if they prefer.
Highlights from Last Week
Last week’s trips were a great success. Swimming sessions were highly engaging, with students enjoying both structured learning and free play in the water. The Sabertooth Group and Silver Sharks had a wonderful learning experience at the Artist Village. The trip to Market Village provided a valuable opportunity for students to practise independence and social skills in a public setting, and it was a well-earned reward for their hard work this term.
Rugby club had an excellent turnout, and we will be expanding support for this week’s session.
Although Wednesday’s café, shop, and art event were disrupted by rain, Alex, Daniel, and Harris still managed to make a small profit with their homemade oat biscuits. Ping An and Amanda adapted quickly, continuing their art competition in the sala; a great example of resilience and flexibility.
Many students have been giving up their free time to support others. Pohn and Matthew assisted with the Silver Sharks’ art class, while Jon, Mia, and Liana supported Kindergarten and were excellent role models. Ping An also spent time helping in Kindergarten.
Areas of Responsibility continue to be a strength across the school. Students are taking real ownership, with the events and sports group helping to plan Sports Week, and the environment group installing new signage around the school.
Club: Film Club, run by two students, Alex and Harris, held a small showcase after circle time on Thursday, sharing their recent projects with the school. There delicious pancakes made in Taste the Rainbow Club. Congratulation to Max and Pep for winning the World Cup club this week.
Congratulations to Seren, who earned her business licence and will begin selling banana and sweet potato crisps in the school shop.
We were also pleased to welcome back former students Paploy, Ida, and Grace for a visit on Monday.
Circle Time Highlights
The Sabertooth group performed a song they have been learning in Music.
Students held a discussion and vote around trampoline safety, agreeing on clear expectations for taking turns and using the space responsibly.
Recognition was given to Mia, Maia, and Cheewa for using their self-directed time to progress their student-led project to expand the space for our school hens.
In Walls and Worlds, students explored collage and mixed media, experimenting with combining materials such as paint, drawings, magazines, and recycled books to create original pieces, which were presented in circle time.
Lower Primary students proudly presented their potion bottle artwork.
In the weekly contest, Smile and Fan won Gryffindor postcards, Chaifa won the Hufflepuff postcard, Esther and Mia received keychains, and Seren won a Clifford poster.
We also held a goodbye circle for Leon and Liana, who are leaving to continue their journeys in Japan and Canada. They will be greatly missed, and we thank them for their generous donation of books and resources to the school.
The Silver Sharks showed of their amazing Vincent Van Goh paintings.
Relationship Education
The Polar Bears
In Relationship Class, the Polar Bears explored the school motto, “Respect Your World, Leave No Trace,” discussing how this applies both within school and beyond. They also reflected on the importance of treating others with kindness and respect, and how positive behaviour often leads to positive outcomes in return.
The Agent Owls
The Agent Owls continued their work on behaviour, exploring what appropriate behaviour looks like in different areas of the school. They discussed how expectations can change depending on the setting, such as during lessons, circle time, and lunchtime.
The Hummingbirds
The Hummingbirds continued developing their self-esteem project, creating a collaborative “class fish,” where each scale represents something a student values about themselves. Students reflected thoughtfully on their strengths and also created additional scales to recognise positive qualities in their peers.
The Sabertooth Group
Sabertooth students explored how the brain makes “guesses” in social situations, using journaling and observation activities to understand how perceptions can differ. They also reflected on the types of relationships they want to build and the choices that support them.
The Silver Sharks and Penguins
Students built on last week’s work around conscious and subconscious behaviour. They reflected honestly on their own actions and whether they had followed their agreed “chain” of positive behaviours. The lesson then introduced the idea of “walls,” using the Berlin Wall as a starting point to explore the invisible barriers people create in relationships. Students began identifying these barriers and discussing practical ways to break them down.
The Crispy Crabs
The Crispy Crabs explored the topic of sexually transmitted diseases (STDs), learning about levels of risk, basic prevention, and where to access reliable information. The focus remained on understanding, responsibility, and making informed decisions.
Thank you, as always, for your continued support.
Warm regards,
Mr Vincent and the Halio Team
