Welcome to Week 8
Sports Week was a great success, with three days of energy, teamwork, and just the right amount of competitive spirit. There were some impressive performances, a few surprise talents, and thankfully only minimal controversy over the results. It was a brilliant way to bring the whole school together.
This Week
Clubs: Rugby club will begin on Monday after school from 3:45 to 5:00 p.m. All students are welcome to join. Football club will continue to run on Wednesdays from 4:00 to 5:00 p.m.
We are excited to welcome a new member of staff, Ms. Anni from Finland, who will be joining us for her practicum. She will be specialising in Science and Special Educational Needs.
The café will be open on Wednesday at 3:30, with a relaxed meet-and-greet event for parents, students, and staff to connect.
Unfortunately, there will be no Coffee Morning with me this week, but it will resume as normal next week.
Trips
Lower Primary - Swimming
Lower Primary will continue their swimming lessons at Hampton. Please ensure your child brings swimwear, a towel, a change of clothes, a water bottle and sun protection (sunscreen and a hat).
Upper Primary and Middle School - Beach Trip
Upper Primary and Middle School will be heading to the beach. Students should bring swimwear, a towel, a change of clothes, and plenty of sun protection, including sunscreen and a hat. A refillable water bottle is also important to stay hydrated throughout the day.
Looking Ahead
We will be conducting Parent–teacher meetings on the 6th, 7th, and 8th of July. These are optional, but parents are very welcome to attend.
Monday 6th – Polar Bears and Agent Owls
Tuesday 7th – Hummingbirds and Sabertooth Group
Wednesday 8th – Silver Sharks, Penguins, and Crispy Crabs
On Wednesday 29th July, we will be having our annual Flea Market. Parents are welcome to come sell items. This is a great chance to clear out unwanted toys and items and sell them to friends at a good price. One person’s clutter is another person’s treasure. Both Parents and students can create items, food, drinks or games to sell.
All are welcome, so feel free to invite your Friends and family. We hope it will be a fun community afternoon.
Highlights from Last Week
Sports Week ran smoothly, with a full programme of activities across the three days. On Monday, students designed team materials before taking part in a whole-school tournament of Gaelic football and handball, followed by touch rugby, kabaddi, and basketball. The Military Clovers won the day, narrowly edging out the Silver Serpents and the Hyper Hamsters, who finished joint second.
Tuesday was designed by the students, led by Alhena and Alex, with support from the older groups. The theme was WWE: Water, World, and Edible Stuff. Students headed to Hampton for swimming races and water polo, before returning to school for a whole-school quiz and finishing the day by preparing healthy food together, including cacao balls (made from dates and oats), fruit salad, guacamole, and apple slices with peanut butter. The Camouflage Chameleons won the day but still trailed our overall leaders, the Military Clovers.
Wednesday was our main Sports Day event, with track and field events in the morning and family games in the afternoon, followed by the awards ceremony. A big thank you to Alex, Amanda, Daniel, Harris, Laura, Ping An, and Toa, who all played a key role in planning and running the events across the three days and to all the parents who attended.
Congratulations to our overall champions, the Military Clovers.
Individual awards were presented as follows:
Perseverance – Patee and Chafia
Sportsmanship – Banjo and Daniel
Leadership – Tar Ping and Jun
Courage – Wawa and Toa
Well done to all students for their effort, teamwork, and attitude throughout the week.
Thank you, as always, for your continued support.
Warm regards,
Mr Vincent and the Halio Team
