Welcome to Week 6
It was an action-packed last week, and we have an exciting few days ahead before our mid-term break.
This Week at Halio
We are very excited to welcome Adam Ippolito to Halio later today. He is a musician who, among many achievements, was a keyboardist with John Lennon. He will be performing at Closing Circle Time (around 3:15 p.m.) on Monday, and all parents are warmly invited to join us.
Our Annual Camp begins on Tuesday. Full details will be shared via a LINE message.
We will return from camp on Thursday, followed by our Mid-term Break on Friday the 13th of February and Monday the 16th of February. School will be open again on Tuesday the 17th of February.
Looking Ahead
Our Mid-term Parent–Teacher Meetings will take place on the following dates:
Monday 23rd February: The Agent Owls and The Hummingbirds
Tuesday 24th February: The Sabertooth and The Silver Sharks
Wednesday 25th February: The Penguins, Ninjas and Crystal Tigers
Highlights from the Week
The café was open and run by Kacie, Matthew, and Laura, who made delicious brownies, cookies, and watermelon drinks. They created their own menu, ordered the ingredients, and prepared everything themselves.
The Sabertooth group also sold homemade pasta in the shop, made using eggs from our school farm. A huge amount of effort went into making it.
Special acknowledgement to Alisa, who gave up her free time to open the bank after school so students could access money for the café and shop.
We added a number of new books to the school library, including the popular Adventure Club series by Jess Butterworth.
Our Penguins, Ninjas, and Crystal Tigers took part in a rugby match against members of The Hub. The rugby club also played a friendly game against a mixed team of teachers and students. Thank you to Khun Gary for supporting this.
Upper Primary students went shopping for road safety equipment, funded by sponsorship money raised during last year’s Triathlon for Change.
Go Karting was a brilliant success. Awards for outstanding performance will be given this week.
Circle Time Highlights
The Halio Band performed Should I Stay or Should I Go by The Clash, with Sarah singing, Matthew on drums, Alex on bass, and Ping An on keyboard.
The Agent Owls shared presentations about the water cycle and clouds.
Jude received a business license to sell stickers in the school shop; the first student this term to achieve this.
The MAD Thunders (Mac, Alisa, Davide and Toa) won the Jim Clark and Ayrton Senna Challenge in our Formula One project, creating and demonstrating a model piston engine. Special acknowledgement to Amanda and Eden for their contributions.
The Hummingbirds delivered fantastic presentations about birds and shared beautiful artwork, alongside movie poster art and Art Club pieces.
Davide won a hat for his contest entry.
Relationship Education
Agent OwlsStudents learned about the five senses, exploring how each works and discussing differences such as those experienced by people who are blind or deaf. They then took part in hands-on sensory games involving touch, sound, and smell.
HummingbirdsStudents learned that it is okay to feel angry or frustrated, but not okay to hurt others. Logical consequences and meaningful apologies were explored, alongside repairing relationships through positive actions.
Sabertooths, Silver Sharks (Girls), and PenguinsStudents were introduced to the concept of being a good citizen, discussing kindness, respect, fairness, and helping others, and reflecting on how their actions affect the wider community.
Silver Sharks (Boys)Students began exploring the emotional changes of puberty, discussing how to manage new feelings and support one another during this stage of development.
Crystal Tigers and Ninjas (Boys)Students continued developing positive communication, discussing consent, different social scenarios, and how to support friends after upsetting incidents.
Crystal Tigers and Ninjas (Girls)Students explored body image, discussing how media and social media images can be unrealistic or filtered. The lesson also covered the importance of healthy development during puberty and how to seek help for eating disorders.
Thank you, as always, for your continued support.
Warm regards,
Mr. Vincent and Halio Team
