Week 4: The Penguin Post - Kindergarten Weekly

🌈 KINDERGARTEN NEWS 🌈

We have had another exciting and busy week in Kindergarten. The Students have been exploring, creating, and working together in their new-ish learning space. Here are some of the highlights, along with a look ahead to our upcoming trip.

This Week

By Harris Yates

This Friday, the kindergartners are going to the Huai Sai Breeding Center, where they will see and feed the animals. The centre is only about 15 minutes away from school.

The children will have the opportunity to feed the animals and play on the swings and play areas. As it can be quite hot, please remember to bring sun protection.

Also, there will be live music at our cafe on Wednesday at 3:30. Kindergarten students and parents are welcome to join us.

Highlights from Last Week

By Alisa, Daniel and Davide

  • The kindergartners have been interacting very positively with their new learning environment. In the new space, students have clear areas within an open design, which has helped them to explore and play more independently.

During free time, many students have been asking Pii Ja to read to them because they love the reading area. They especially enjoy the easy access to books and their brand new tent, which they got at the start of term.

The kindergartners have also been enjoying dressing up in front of the mirror and playing with the building blocks.

  • Last Friday, the Kindergarten students went to Wat Bo Fai for their weekly trip. Wat Bo Fai is a temple, and it was a very enjoyable visit. The students had fun feeding the fish and exploring the eye-catching ponds. On the way back to school, they stopped at a playground where they enjoyed the swings and slide. They clearly had a wonderful time.

  • On Wednesday, all of the kindergartners made scrumptious smoothies. The students used a variety of fruits, including mango, banana, apple, and pear. They helped to cut and peel the fruit before putting it into their cups, ready to be blended.

They had two options to mix with their fruit: milk or yoghurt. The most popular combinations were banana and mango. Herbie was the only student who decided to include everything! All of the students thoroughly enjoyed their smoothies.

Classes from Last Week

By Amanda

Last week in Kindergarten, the students took part in Music, Tales and Treasures, and Project Play. These classes are led by Mrs Celden, Mr. Chad, Mrs Sara, and Mr. Tommy

In Project Play with Ms. Celden, the students made pizzas out of paper, focusing on developing their fine motor skills. They chose their own toppings, cut them out, and stuck them onto their pizzas.

With Mr. Chad they finished reading the fun story The Day the Crayons Quit. The children learned both familiar and new colours, along with the letters they begin with. They then brainstormed everyday objects that match each colour. To finish the lesson, the children went on an outdoor scavenger hunt to find natural items that matched the colours on their activity sheets.

In Mrs Sara’s class, she began by reading stories to the children. Afterwards, they prepared for shell and rock painting. They carefully cleaned the shells and stones before painting them, and then created their own colourful designs.

In Music, the students performed songs such as Hot Cross Buns, This Old Man, and Bingo. They had lots of fun singing and joining in with actions.

The students had a great time taking part in all of these creative activities.

Closing

It has been fantastic to see the children settling so well into their new space and showing such enthusiasm for learning. We are looking forward to another exciting week ahead, especially our upcoming trip.
