Week 4: Kindergarten Weekly – Silver Shark Bites
Updated: Oct 1
🌈 KINDERGARTEN NEWS 🌈
Welcome to another edition of Silver Shark Bites, our Kindergarten newsletter written with the help of the Silver Sharks.
This week’s Silver Shark Bites arrives with plenty to report. The Kindergarten children have been cooking, planting, creating and exploring, with adventures at the Floating Market and plenty happening back at school too.
Our Silver Shark reporters have been busy gathering the stories and writing their reports. As part of the process, their work is reviewed and edited before publication, while the stories and observations remain their own.
Here’s what they discovered in Kindergarten last week, and what’s coming up next.

Swimming - This Friday, the Kindergarten children will be going swimming for their Friday trip. They will continue building their confidence in the water and developing their swimming skills. Please remember to bring swimwear, sun protection, goggles, a towel and a change of clothes.
Rajabhakti Park - After Lunch on Friday, our oldest Kindergarten children will be heading to the area opposite Rajabhakti Park (7 Kings) for an active Friday afternoon.
They will begin with cycling and scooter activities, practising their balance, coordination, confidence and basic riding skills.
The children will then head to the beach for games and sports activities, with plenty of opportunities to move, play and work together.
Children joining this trip should bring their bike or scooter, helmet, water bottle and sun protection.
Clubs - Kindergarten will also continue exploring Thai desserts during their club time this week, giving the children another opportunity to learn about Thai food and culture through making and tasting.
Farm - The Kindergarten children will visit our school Farm, where they will continue learning about growing, harvesting and caring for plants.
Highlights from Last Week
By Xi En and Tar Ping
There was plenty happening around Kindergarten last week.
Some of our Primary school students volunteered to spend time with the Kindergarten children on Thursday. They enjoyed playing together and getting to know some of our younger students.
The Kindergarten children also continued spending plenty of time outdoors. The playground, mud kitchen, sandpit and swings were all busy throughout the week, with the swing once again proving so popular that there was often a queue waiting behind it. Indoors, imaginative play continued too. Kiki, Eva, Sage and Benjapar dressed as princesses and danced across the room while the other children became their audience.
The sandpit has also become a garden. The children planted red onions and were excited to discover that they have already started to sprout. The children also returned to the farm to check on their plants and help remove some of the weeds.
Friday’s Trip

Last Friday, the Kindergarten children visited Hua Hin Sam Phan Nam Floating Market, where they had the chance to explore the market, interact with people and practise using money responsibly.
After arriving and taking a photograph together, the children climbed aboard the train for a journey around the market. The journey brought an unexpected surprise when the train broke down partway around. Everyone was safe, and once it was ready to continue, the children carried on with their adventure.
They then explored the market on foot and fed the fish.
The trip also gave the children opportunities to practise some of the everyday skills we work on at school: greeting people respectfully, looking after their own belongings and tickets, following instructions and behaving responsibly while out in the wider community.
Most importantly, they had plenty of fun along the way.

Last week, the Kindergarten children continued learning about Thai desserts by making bua loi.
They began by using glutinous rice flour to shape their own small balls. These were then cooked in boiling water before being served with warm coconut milk.
There were mixed reviews when it came to tasting. Some children loved their bua loi, some weren't so sure, and a few were reluctant to try it at all. But everyone had the opportunity to take part in making it and experience something new.
The children were able to shape the bua loi themselves and, with help from the teachers, learn more about the different stages involved in preparing the dessert.
Through the club, the children are beginning to discover more about Thai desserts and Thai culture while also becoming increasingly independent in the kitchen.
Classes from Last Week
By Linus, Patee and Vicky
Last week, the Kindergarten children explored things that can fly. With Mr Chad, they made paper aeroplanes, practising their folding and cutting skills before testing their aeroplanes and seeing how they flew. Cutting is still a relatively new skill for some of the children, so this was also a chance to practise using scissors safely and with more independence.
The children continued their arts and crafts by making paper bugs. They learnt about different bugs before creating and colouring their own, choosing whatever colours they wanted. They also made their own paper pancakes, giving them another chance to practise cutting and use their imaginations.
In PE, the children worked their way through obstacles and played dodgeball. They practised moving, dodging and playing together, with plenty of laughter along the way.
In Music, the children played singing and movement games. They sang, danced, listened and followed instructions together, finishing with the children holding hands and singing as a group.
Across their classes, the children are becoming more confident with skills such as cutting, creating, moving and working together.
