Welcome to Week 11

Thank you to all the parents who attended our Parent–Teacher Meetings last week. It was a pleasure to meet with so many of you to celebrate your children's progress, discuss their learning, and share their next steps. We greatly value the strong partnership between home and school and appreciate your continued support.

This Week

• This week's café will be run by Lenis and Max, who will be serving a selection of homemade Swedish desserts alongside refreshing blueberry smoothies.

  
  

• This Wednesday's student café will feature a Chess Tournament, with all students and parents welcome to join us from 3:30 p.m.

  
  

• Rugby Club continues on Monday from 3:45-5:00 p.m. and is open to students of all abilities. Football Club will also continue on Wednesday. The Girls' Football Club will run from 3:45-4:45 p.m. in the cage, alongside open football session on the school field from 4:00-5:00 p.m

  
  

Trips

• Lower Primary will visit the beautiful Mrigadayavan Palace, where students will explore one of Thailand's historic royal residences while learning about its history, architecture, and beautiful coastal surroundings. Please ensure your child brings a hat, water bottle, comfortable walking shoes, and sunscreen.

• Upper Primary and Middle School will continue their swimming programme at Hampton Swimming & Fitness. Students should bring appropriate swimwear, goggles, a towel, a change of clothes, a water bottle, and sun protection. Middle School students may also choose to remain at school for supervised study time if they prefer.

Highlights from Last Week

• We are incredibly proud of our Silver Sharks, who all successfully completed the parachute tower jump at Rama VI Army Camp. The Middle School students also embraced the challenge. We are really proud of all of them.

  
  

• Swimming was another great success, with students continuing to make excellent progress while also enjoying time to play and build confidence in the water.

  
  

• The Sabertooth Group remained at school, where they made fantastic progress on their new mud kitchen. The project is really beginning to take shape and should be completed next week.

• On Monday, we were treated to a wonderful violin performance by our two volunteers, Sophie and Ethan. After performing during Circle Time, they generously answered students' questions and were fantastic role models, inspiring many of our young musicians.

  
  

  They returned on Wednesday to perform again at the Halio Café alongside the Halio Band. The band performed several well-known songs and demonstrated just how much they have progressed over the term.

• Our Areas of Responsibility programme really stepped up another level last week, with a number of exciting student-led projects taking shape. The Bank Group has begun trialling a new school bank card system, while many students earned business licences ready for the upcoming Flea Market and School Shop. Meanwhile, the Sports Group has designed a brand-new Halio rugby shirt, with students now voting for their favourite design before it is produced for the rugby Club.

• The competition to redesign the Halio Hyena shirt also closed on Friday, and we have received many creative and imaginative entries. We will be voting on a new design this week.

  
  

• Friday's Sports on the Lawn, organised by Alex, Daniel, and Harris, was another enjoyable afternoon that saw students working together and having plenty of fun.

• Congratulations to Mia and Maia, who made some delicious treats for Wednesday's café and to Vicky and Seren for an excellent job running the school shop.

  
  

• We also took time to say goodbye to Amy, who is relocating overseas after three wonderful years at Halio. We held an early Circle Time on Thursday to celebrate her time with us and wish her every success in her new adventure. On Friday, we also celebrated her birthday together, with Amy kindly bringing in a birthday cake to share with everyone.

Circle Time Highlights

• The World Cup Club once again entertained the school by recreating memorable moments from the tournament before inviting students and staff to take part in a fun Heading Challenge.

  
  

• The Agent Owls proudly presented and donated a book they had created for the school library during Circle Time.

  
  

• Before the Silver Sharks' parachute jump, Toa led a special Circle Time to encourage the group. Toa, Harris, and Daniel all shared stories and words of encouragement, helping the students approach the challenge with confidence.

  
  

• Thank you to Pya, who helped organise and sort our new library books.

Relationship Education

Polar Bears

In Relationship Class, the Polar Bears took part in a variety of get-to-know-you and confidence-building games. Through fun team activities, students practised introducing themselves, listening to others, and working together in a supportive environment. The games encouraged everyone to participate, build new friendships, and grow in confidence when speaking and sharing with the group.

Agent Owls

In Relationship Class, the Agent Owls revisited the five key steps for dealing with bullying. Students reviewed each step before practising realistic scenarios through role-play. The students thoroughly enjoyed acting out different situations and are becoming increasingly confident in knowing how to respond appropriately.

Hummingbirds

The Hummingbirds began with two circle games, Compliment Tennis and Hot Seat, to practise the listening and respect skills they have developed throughout the term.

Students then delivered the first of their group presentations on themes such as the power of words and self-esteem, sharing thoughtful ideas and, in some cases, very personal stories that were genuinely moving.

Sabertooth Group

The Sabertooth Group continued exploring how our attention shapes what we notice, feel, and believe. Students discussed the many factors that influence our attention and became more aware of how these shape the way we understand the world around us.

Silver Sharks and Penguins

Students continued exploring famous psychological studies on human behaviour, including Milgram's obedience experiment, The Stanford Prison Experiment, and the Bystander Effect.

They then discussed where similar psychological influences might appear within school life and reflected on how understanding these ideas can help them make better decisions and support others.

Crispy Crabs

The Crispy Crabs focused on online safety, particularly online communication. Students discussed the advantages and disadvantages of different online activities before exploring practical strategies for staying safe and communicating responsibly online.
