“...Education is a natural process spontaneously carried out by the human individual, and is acquired not by listening to words but by experiences upon the environment. The task of the teacher becomes that of preparing a series of motives of cultural activity, spread over a specially prepared environment, and then refraining from obtrusive interference...”

-  Maria Montessori

Kindergarten is a cheerful place for expanding our horizons and learning how to live successfully in society. Our program offers children opportunities to develop skills with a light touch and not much pressure. We know that free open space and the dignity of self-direction are of crucial importance to a child at this age. Most of their growth and learning happens outside a traditional classroom setting. It is in this space that children truly explore social, moral, cultural and wellness aspects of life, and learn essential non-cognitive skills such as confidence, persistence, curiosity, independence, and creativity.

In Kindergarten, our main focuses are on the development of foundational language skills for communication (both oral and written), and the initiative for self-direction to make decisions that will impact their school lives, an adventurous spirit, and a love of learning and the natural world. These skills are the building blocks for success in our Primary School program.
